Our little artist

Wow I am totally blown away by our youngest DD, Miss 2 3/4. She was doodling on the sketch board after dinner and there was a person!!!!!!!!!! Yep..........head, body, legs, arms, face and even hair!!!!!!!!! I just couldn't believe it. I didn't actually see her do it so just said, 'wow thats cool'. Then I asked her to draw me another one. She decided she would draw her sister. So with camera in hand (lol I'm a scrapper after all) I watched her draw her picture. Circle for a head, line from the head down then two legs, scribbly circle across the middle for the body and two lines either side for the arms. Two dots for eyes and a wiggly smiley face, and then the spikey hair!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic. She has been drawing for a long time and colours inbetween the lines in her colouring books, which I think is pretty cool, but this has just surprised me. I remember Isobel doing stick figures at Kindy when she was four. I guess it really helps to have an older sibling to watch and copy. They love to draw/colour in together. We even gave them canvas' to make their own pictures, which I will put up on the walls one day soon. Now if only I could work out how to put the pic on here.

Today was cake day

Cake day is our sons birthday. Every year I bake him a cake. He would have been 8 this year and I wonder what he would have been doing, what sports he would have played. I know that he would have been a little 'mini dad' LOL Thanks Nic for sharing the cake, sorry there was no cream with it LOL

It actually ended up being a rather busy day. First we had cake and then I had 'volunteered' (not sure how) to help at the school sausage sizzle. OMG it was also the interschools netball competition. We ended up cooking and serving 600 odd sausages, bread and tomato sauce - and drinks - to hungry students and netball players, in 1 1/2 hours. Man did I know where the muscles were in my back LOL. Then it was home for an hours peace and play with my youngest DD before back to school for pickup and a friend home to play. And a visit from my neighbour and her two girls. At one point there were 8 females in the house. Frightening!!!!!!!!! But they all played nicely and the afternoon dissapeared. Girls are now happily tucked up in bed, dreaming girly dreams. Oh yea! There was this amazing thunderstorm this afternoon. We were sitting outside in the sun playing with playdough, when we heard the thunder. I looked straight up and it was clear blue sky!!!!!!!!! The thunderstorm was out to the west of us and we could see it comming around the hill and all the way up the west coast. It lasted about 45 mins. Just amazing. I took some very cool photos too but have no idea how to put them onto here. I just love thunderstorms like that. The clouds are so very cool and different colours. Nature sure is beautiful.

Today was definately

better!!!!!!!! Even the before school routine seemed to have less arguments. The only downside (well not really cause I don't mind getting wet) is that a perfectly nice afternoon turned to a heavy shower as I was halfway walking to school LOL

I have an answer

To the behavioural issues over the weekend. It was a FULL MOON!!!!!!!!! Brings out the animal in them LOL Well lets just hope that they settle back to my little angels (not quite but close enough) now that the full moon has gone.

Although today seemed to be another of those days when I have just yelled at my eldest DD. Why does it take so much energy to get her out of the house in time for ballet, when it is something that she loves to do???????? You would think that she would be home and dressed in her leotard etc and ready to go. Today I feel like a nagger and I hate that. I hate the tone of my voice and the way I say things. Just hate hate hate it. Back to the parenting books for some re-reading and some inspiration and tomorrow will hopefully be a better day. Maybe I should take a note from Ruths blog and plan to be more positive. I want to be that positive person. Tomorrow is going to be a better day. Hows that?? LOL

Weekends

They are always great right?????? Ever have one of those weekends when you just can't wait for it to be over and the week routine to start again??????? Boy, my kids did a great job of winding each other (and their tired mother) up this weekend. I am glad that it is Monday again. And we had such beautiful weather!!!!!!!! Saturday almost felt like summer and we spent most of the afternoon playing outside on the deck, getting sunburnt LOL. Saturday afternoon things started to go downhill with two really clingy girls and a hubby who dissapeared to the game 3 1/2 hours before kickoff!!!!!!!!!!!! What was that all about!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????? Weekends are precious for them as its really the only time they have his full attention. And girls need their fathers right?? Perhaps the girls picked up on the fact that mummy was not happy *shrug*. But Sunday was just a write off and I am glad for a good nights sleep and Monday again. This week is going to be crazy and do you know what?? I am looking forward to next weekend LOL

What an awesome crop!!!!!

After a week with my sick baby (shes 2 1/2 lol), it was great to get out to my local crop. I almost didn't go this morning when I saw her eyes streaming and nose running, but my hubby was very persuasive (and its only a few mins down the road). She was fine, and had a great day with dad anyway. It must be that mother guilt LOL

Well I had a really great time. It was so nice to be sitting scrapping (I did two layouts LOL) and chatting with friends. And we had a lot of laughs today as we usually do. Sorry about the paper bag joke Ruth but it was rather funny. What a great group of ladies. Thanks for the laughs today.

New Camera

Oh and I knew there was something else. I have the most wonderful hubby and on the weekend he was even more wonderful!!!!!!!! lol He bought me a digi SLR camera and I am the happiest little scrapper at the moment. I am really enjoying taking pics of the girls and seeing how clear they come out. I have even sent off an order to be printed and can't wait for those to come back (Where are you little courier man, I will be stalking the driveway today LOL) So much to learn about my new baby, the biggest thing is remembering to take it with me, even when I go for a walk LOL Missed some great shots of the kids at the park the other day. Isn't it amazing how your mind just starts to imagine shots.

Anyway, off to clear up the breakfast and then maybe get a play. LOL

Why is it

that some days when you look in the mirror, there are more wrinkles than the day before??? LOL And other days I don't see any changes. Today it is raining, so maybe the weather has something to do with it. Well I'll blame the weather anyway LOL Another busy day and another day without getting into my scraproom. I have a crop this weekend and need to get organised for that. I am soooooooooo looking forward to it.

Opps

Forgot to add, if only I could find my scrapping mojo then I would be a happier person too. LOL I think it left and is sunning itself on some sandy beach somewhere. COME BACK MOJO!!!! The sun is returning!!!!!!!! LOL Well is definately wasn't at the bottom of the homemade biscuit jar LOL, infact the only thing I can find there is crumbs. mmmmmmmm looks like baking day again tomorrow. The girls will love that.

Well it has been awhile

since I was last bloggin. When did the days get shorter???????? Although they are infact getting longer again and that is a definate sign that Winter is on the out. Hurrah!!!!!!!! I love it when you see the first lambs bouncing around in the paddocks, it means that spring is on the way and then lovely summer warm days. It has been so wet lately that it is finally lovely to see the sun again. "hello Sun, I've missed you" LOL Today was one of my favourite days. I just love Spring and Autumn. I love the crispness in the air and the bright blue sky. Just right for long walks and investigating. Our little friendly Skylark is back again, so the weather must be getting warmer. Everything just feels happier, the kids included. Its just so nice to be able to get outside into the fresh air. Roll on Summer.
